Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare is the 4th installment in the Call of duty series and the first part of the wildly popular Modern Warfare branch.
A first person shooter set in a modern day war scenario, this game moved the series away from the World War 2 setting employed by the previous games.
Traditionally, the Call of Duty games are primarily purchased for their online multiplayer and aren’t exactly known for their campaign modes. Because of this, I wasn’t really expecting too much from it. In the end, I was right about the story. It didn’t grab me, and won’t be making my best of all time list. HOWEVER, what it lacked from a story perspective it made up with a rather fulfilling single player experience. It just felt good to advance through the levels, gradually gaining ground by carefully peering around corners and such. It probably helped that I was playing on Veteran, which provides quite a bit of challenge to the unexperienced player.
